Apparently, quite a big 'incident' happened in school today.

Well, from what I've heard from Monkey, I can only say that it's something that no one should ever see. I don't think it's very pleasant to actually watch someone stand a few metres from his/her death and contemplate about whether they want to go forward and seize it or not. I may not know the reason she's jumping, but seriously - whatever reason it is, she could've turned to someone for help first.

The school has a counselor, no? What's she doing there if not for students to talk to her and have a listening ear? Okay, I know some people don't like to reveal their problems to others/dislike having to go to the counselor lest they be labelled 'crazy'. Aren't there TEEN HELPLINES to assist? They can remain anonymous, and speak to total strangers! Lessening one's emotional burden is a big step already.

I may have actually thought about suicide before, but look, I'm still sitting here and typing this. Which means that I haven't committed suicide. Fine, if you want to argue about family backgrounds, I can admit that I'm from a pretty privileged family, which is relatively stable. Maybe that particular girl has family problems, maybe it's her results, maybe it's something else that's bothering her. But really, the big question here is: Is Death the solution?

This is a morbid thought: If she, or if any of you readers, had committed suicide successfully, do you think all your problems will be gone?

Sure, you think that since you're dead, you don't have to take responsibility for anything. But here's reality, you can't do anything. You're leaving friends/family/loved ones behind. I don't know what kind of relationship you have with anything, but it's got to count for something. Say maybe your beloved pet, a plant, anything. And if you're the 'Oh I'm emo and I hate the world over. So I totally don't have any friends or family and I can just die without troubling anyone." kind, why don't you try channelling that negative energy into something more positive? For all you know you could become an activist, a revolutionalist, a politician, anything - because of your different POV.

We live in the modern world, and it's understandable that stress piles up, burdens - emotional and physical, are very real. But do you think your life has such little value?

Your life, anyone's life, is a miracle. It takes anyone a great deal of effort to get through the day. Some days just seem to be worst than others, and different people reach different low points in their life at different times. If I gave up and actually commit suicide upon meeting such misfortune, I must say that I'll be sorely disappointed with myself in the end.


That means I'll be believing that my emotional strength is bowing down to this misfortune. This sick and infuriating misfortune that seems to get the better of me and I can't seem to get by it. I won't stand for that. The way I see it, it's just degrading yourself. Thinking that you yourself can be so easily beaten by something like that.


I'm sorry if that offended anyone, but as I said at the beginning of my POV, please STFU if you want to flame.

I have been fortunate enough to attend AKLTG's IAG Mod 3. In Module 3, we actually did a scenario when our lives were on the line. It's true, I didn't think to save myself, and only 4 self-preserving people made it past that test.

For those who haven't gone, let me tell you the story that we heard after that. What was it exactly that made us all change our minds and believe that our lives were worth living for?





Yes, this was the story that made me realise how important I, or for that matter, each person, is.
I may not have as magnificent skills of storytelling as Adam or Gary, but this carries at least the gist of the story.

I hope you understand my take on suicide now.
